Typhoons

From June to September many typhoons strike Japan. Typhoons in September particularly are known to cause damage in the Kanto area. If a typhoon is approaching your area, pay special attention to weather forecasts on the television and radio. If you have any travel plans during that period, such as a fishing or swimming trip, think about the situation carefully and use wise judgment. Secure clothesline poles or flowerpots on your balcony or in your garden so they will not be swept away by the gusting winds. Reinforce your rain doors and glass windows, also. Typhoons can cause a blackout or a shutdown of the water supply. Check that you have enough of the right kind of batteries for a portable radio and flashlights. Stock a supply of drinking water (if possible, store a supply of water for other daily uses, too).
